GWSAFunds.com is a joint project of the SA Senate Finance Committee and the Student Association Vice President of Financial Affairs.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee consists of 8 SA Senators, appointed by the Senate. It is chaired by Connor Walsh (U- At Large) and vice-chaired by Chris Clark (CCAS – U). The Finance Committee is responsible for allocating over $720,000 of student fee money to various student organizations and the rest of the student government.

The Finance Committee distributes these funds in two different ways:

  1. Initial allocations – Student organizations who registered with SAC in the previous academic year are eligible to apply for “operational funding” at the beginning of each school year. Budgets for the 09-10 academic year are due on Thursday, September 10, 2009. More information can be found here.
  2. Co-sponsorships – All registered student organizations are eligible to apply for a co-sponsorship during the year that can help cover the costs of events and programs. The Finance Committee meets once a week to review co-sponsorship requests. Co-sponsorship requests must be submitted 10 days prior to the start of the event/program. Only student organizations registered with the Student Activities Center (SAC) are eligible to receive student fee money. Organizations who receive funding are required to use the SA logo on all promotional materials as well as list their events on the SA Colonial Calendar.

Vice President of Financial Affairs

The Vice President of Financial Affairs (VPFA) is Ashish Khumbat. The VPFA is responsible for verifying that those requesting reimbursement or payment from the SA actually received money allocated by the Finance Committee and spent it under SA guidelines. The VPFA then passes the request along to SAC who draws a check from the SA account and mails it to the appropriate recipient.
